Thomas has a 2nd Tooth and is now climbing the stairs

Thomas woke up yesterday with a 2nd tooth!!! He is really progressing on that front. Then this morning, he decided he wanted to follow one of the cats up the stairs and I found him on the first stair -- YIKES!! Hope those gates arrive soon :-) It is so amazing how quickly they are advancing. They love the playroom and the climing mats--both Matthew and Thomas love to climb the "mountain" and love sitting in the balls.

Update with Pictures (finally!) OK, with so much going on - we are sorry we have not been keeping our blog up as well as we should.House - we are finally in! Yes indeed - enough unpacking and work updating some of the electrical items in the house have been completed that we were finally able to move in to the house permanently! Thanks to Sue's parents for allowing us to stay with them and helping us with all the work (both house and boys). We have attached pictures below of most of the house. Needless to say - going from a 2600 sqft new home to a 1800 sqft house built in 1924... we had some challenges just getting all of our stuff to fit (not that we had too much stuff...). In any event, we are going to start enjoying settling in with the boys now and will let you know of our upcoming projects as they unfold.

Boys... much has happened with these little bundles of joy since just a few weeks ago. In general, they are doing great (albeit a lingering cold/cough that sometimes plagues Matthew, and just adjusting to all the changes). Let me hit the highlights: Thomas was first to get a tooth. That little sharp tooth popped out last week after a day or two of some discomfort. Thomas has caught up with Matthew in terms of his ability to stand and sit down with relative smoothness, although Matthew clearly has a couple of weeks on his brother on the mobility path. Interestingly however, Thomas is showing more signs of wanting to walk than his brother who seems more than comfortable just crawling everywhere he needs to go. Both boys are showing some stranger anxiety and if Mommy or Daddy are in the area - they both will strain for them more times than not.

Daycare...the boys are starting to settle into their new daycare, though it is still rough when dropping them off as Thomas still cries for a while. But they both seem happy when we pick them up and they are adjusting to being in with older children (this daycare is in an individual's home so there are varying ages of the children-no more being in a room with all the same age children). They still have a hard time taking naps at daycare and seem to prefer to sleep in their car seats as opposed to the play pens, hopefully that will change soon.

Reed's starting date with the Limestone Police dept will be sometime in April for part time and then full time in May (tentatively--it will all get worked out in the next few weeks) and he has some training and other items to get done before starting. There are many reasons for the delay in the start date, but mostly due to the move and not getting settled into the house as quickly as we thought we could. But everything is coming together finally.

OK, we have rattled on too long - much work on the house remains to be done. We hope that everyone is well and our best to all. More updates soon. Until then, please take care.

Love - Reed, Sue, Matthew and Thomas

9 month checkup

Good morning everyone,

The boys had their 9 month check up yesterday and it went well. Thomas weighed in at 22 pounds 14 ounces and is 29.5 inches long (up from 19 pounds 9 ounces and 27.5 inches at his 6 month visit). Matthew weighed in at 19 pounds 3 ounces and 27.5 inches (up from 16 pounds 14 ounces and 26 inches at his 6 month visit). Matthew still has a little fluid behind one ear (but he also has a bad cough) so the Dr. wants to see him again in a month to check it again. He also has a drooping eyelid, but it is not covering the pupil so it is not interfering with his vision and the Dr. says it is only cosmetic. Thomas is doing well, his ears are clear and the Dr. is satisfied with his improvement with the neck issue so he does not need any more therapy at this point. They both got their shots yesterday and did great with that. While there, Reed found out that Maine has a program that for every child's well care visits (for each well care visit) they get a book. So both Thomas and Matthew each received a book from the Dr. yesterday. I think that that is a great program. The Dr. was quite surprised by Matthew's ability level (with the crawling, climbing and almost walking activities). She was very satisfied with their development, which of course makes us feel good.

Hopefully I can get some good pictures this weekend and have more to post on Monday. Have a great weekend.

Love,
Reed, Sue, Matthew and Thomas

Update from Maine

Hi everyone,

I know that it has been quite a while, but, well, we have been really busy. We have moved home to Maine and are currently trying to get our new house set up so that we can move in. In the meantime, we have been living at my parents. Sue was able to move her ABB job to Maine and do it remotely for about a year and Reed will be going to work for the Limestone Police Department.

The boys are doing really well (they have their 9 month check up tomorrow) so we will get more info on how big etc. (which I will post). Matthew has been crawling since about Christmas and now pulls himself up on furniture and while holding onto it, he "walks" the lenght of the furniture. Thomas began crawling military style in late Jan, early Feb but since we have been at my parents, he is now crawling on all fours and has now started to pull himself up on furniture as well. We think that both will walk pretty soon.

I can't believe that more than 9 months have gone by since they were born. There have been so many changes and they have grown so much. They both have very different personalities and Thomas looks to Matthew for comfort in uneasy situations. Like starting their new daycare-Matthew has taken to it much easier than Thomas. Thomas would follow Matthew around and lay his head in Matthew's lap for comfort. They are both so amazing.

I am going to post some pictures below that were taken through out their time at the day care in NC and I will also post some pictures of them at my parents since we moved back.

I hope to be able to post more often now that we are settling in.

Love,
Reed, Sue, Matthew and Thomas
