4 Month Checkup

We still can't believe that the boys are 4 months old (they turned four months on the 27th of September). They had thier 4 month check up yesterday and both boys received outstanding marks. Thomas weighed in at 15 pounds 11 ounces and is 25 inches long (explains why he is now wearing 9 month clothing and some of that is still too short for him--I think he will be tall like his Daddy). Matthew is gaining quite a bit of ground on his brother, weighing in at 14 pounds .05 ounces and is 24 inches long. They have both been cleared to move to eating cereal and then in 3-4 weeks I can start adding fruits and veggies to their diet. This should be a time of great pictures!!! Matthew's reflux is still really bad and the doctors have now added Zantac to his medicine regime and they tell us that this is about as bad as it should get and last until about 5 months of age at which time it should be starting to get better. So that is one more month to go. And we hope for his sake that he starts to feel better soon because the little guy is definately in some pain and still has a very hard time eating and sleeping (though he gets quite comfortable on you for a bit--but still arches his back and cries out in pain every 30 min or so).

We thought that both were close to having teeth pop out but the doc says that even though we can see the teeth it will still be a bit before they make their grand entrance. With that being said, the doc believes that Matthew's thrashing around at night (he slams his legs and arms into the mattress all night long) is a result of teething and the pressure changes in his ear canals. I really hope those first teeth pop out soon and leave the poor little guy alone. :-)

Thomas continues to be a champ and sleep through the night every night (except for the rare off night). We feed him around 8 PM, put him to bed and he normally sleeps until about 7AM. Bless his little heart. He is giving us time to help Matthew get through the night. The little brother is looking out for the big brother.

It is amazing how much they have grown. As I mentioned before, Thomas is barely fitting into the 9 month PJs that I just bought him. I think he will be a tall dude. And Matthew is catching up pretty quickly though at least he is still about 1 size behind Thomas so I can buy clothing for Thomas and when he has almost outgrown it, Matthew is into it. Which works out really well.

That's about it for now. We are still trying to learn how to edit our videos so we can post more of them for you.

Matthew's First Roll!

Matthew's First Roll!
Hi everyone,
I know that we have not been great at keeping the blog up to date, but there is hardly time in the day to do much more than the absolute necessary. But this weekend marked a number of Firsts for the boys.
Thomas and Matthew both tried eating rice cereal from a spoon. Thomas did very well and Matthew--well he wore more than he ate. But he had a good time. There are some pictures of our first eating posted below.
As you may have noticed we posted a video of Thomas laughing. This is a true, from the belly laugh. He started doing this about two weeks ago and the video is from the 13th. There are days when I pick him up from day care and he will just look at me and start laughing. Matthew will laugh quietly and we have not been able to get that on video yet. They are both very happy babies. They both "talk" quite a bit and we hope to have video of that loaded within the next week.
The other big First is that both Thomas and Matthew rolled from their stomach to their back this weekend. We had Thomas on the mat playing on his tummy yesterday afternoon and all of a sudden he just rolled himself to his back. We were not expecting that so we did not have the video recorder on. Last night we put both Thomas and Matthew down to play and we thought, why not give them some tummy time and maybe Thomas will roll over again. And this time we had the recorder going. So I turned Matthew onto his belly and went to turn Thomas and by the time I had Thomas turned to his belly, Matthew had rolled himself from his tummy to his back. And we got that on video so we will be posting that as well.
In any event, here are some pictures from the past weekend.
