Update from Matthew

Hi everyone,

This is Matthew. I am doing ok, just having a lot of issues with Reflux. I really can't sleep on my back at all right now because I get too congested from the Reflux, so last night Daddy and I slept all night in the chair. I slept better only getting up at 1 AM and then at 5 AM to eat (after eating at 8:30 PM). But since I am so congested, I have a hard time eating and choke alot. Mommy called the doctor again today and they suggested that I try sleeping on a wedge so Mommy is going to go get me one today and they also want Mommy and Daddy to thicken my milk with some rice cereal as that should help with the Reflux so we will be trying that tonight as well. I am getting bigger and eating more now (I have now doubled my birth weight--I weighed 10 lbs 2 oz last Thursday). Both my brother and I are way ahead on the eating schedule (eating about what a 4 month old baby should eat and we are now just about 11 weeks old) but the doctor seems to think that that is because the Refulx--the milk soothes our throat so we want to have more even though we may not actually be hungry. We hope the cereal works. I am posting some pictures of me below. I love to play with Mommy and Daddy and smile (though it is hard to catch my smile on camera!).

Love,

Matthew

Thomas sleeps through the night -- **Twice in a Row**

Hi everyone,

This is me Thomas, and I just wanted to let everyone know that I slept through the night the last two nights (the first time I did this was on August 5th - the night I turned ten weeks old). My Mommy or Daddy fed me (sorry I don't remember which one but all of the feedings just seem to run together) at 8:30 each night and I did not wake up until 5:00 AM!! I am such a good boy!!! :-) I am really trying to let Mommy and Daddy get some sleep since I know they are up most of the night with my older brother. I hope he feels better soon. Please see some pictures of me below. I like to smile a lot at Daddy and Mommy and I really like to play with them. Mommy took me to physical therapy last week for my neck as I always turn it to the left so I need to work on building up some neck muscles on the other side. I had a good time and Mommy and Daddy are very good at doing the excercises with me. I don't mind them too much, especially when they incorporate them into playing with me.

Love,

Thomas

Thank you Auntie Sara

Aunt Sara,

Thank you for such cool outfits. It is a good thing that my Mommy checked because we are now wearing our 6 month outfits and that is what these are (we are getting so big!). We just love our moose outfits--see us below!

2 Month Checkup

I can't believe that we are at the 2 month check up mark already. I have been lax in posting, but to be honest there just isn't enough time in the day to post here. Postings will be more frequent once sleeping through the night occurs.

On other news, the boys had their 2 month check up this week. Matthew weighed in at 9 lbs 11.5 poounds and 21 inches ( a 2 lb 8.5 ounce gain and an 1.75 inch gain) and Thomas weighed in at 11 lbs 8 oz and 23 inches (a 1 lb 15 ounce gain and 2 inches). Both boys are doing very well. They both smile and laugh a lot and Thomas really likes it when you stick your tounge out at him, he will stick his back out at you. They are both starting to repeat some sounds that we make, Matthew especially. Matthew now clicks his tounge in response to me doing it and will repeat my owl sounds. It is so amazing to watch them. Matthew picked up his pacifier this morning when I picked him up out of his bassinet as if to say "Mommy, don't forget this". They both have found their fists to suck on but have not yet mastered sucking on the thumb. They both also clasp their hands in front of themselves and stare at them. Both of their neck muscles are getting much stronger and they are both about a month or two ahead of schedule in the volume of food they are eating. I normally try to read to the boys every afternoon and they seem to enjoy that, especially Thomas. Thomas needs to see a physical therapist as the muscles on one side of his neck are much stronger than the other side (he always turns his head to one side) so we need to work on strengthing the other side.

They both started in daycare part time this week so that I could get a bit extra rest, get some much needed house work and other errands done and to get both them and me adjusted to being away from each other in anticipation of my going back to work on August 19th. Bringing them to daycare broke our hearts. But we know that they are well taken care of there.

Hope everyone is doing well and we hope to post some pictures some time this week.
