October Update

Well tomorrow is Halloween and the boys will be getting dressed up a bit and doing a little trick-or-treating so I will post some pictures after that. But for now the latest news:

Thomas got two more teeth this week--another one in the front bottom and his first molar--the molar is not completely out yet but two of the corners are out and I think it is causing him a lot of pain. And of course they both got the first of two H1N1 vaccines yesterday so they were not happy with me anyway! I think Matthew is working on getting some new teeth but it may still be a bit for him.

They have been doing really well, though Matthew is now in the stage of head butting--he did it a lot when he was really young and then had stopped for ahwile but now he is back to it. To the point where we are pretty sure he broke Reed's nose last weekend. That would be the 4th time Reed's nose has been broken so he was pretty sure. It was not bad enough to cause bleeding like the last time that he broke it but still very painful. We also think that Matthew's head butting is what caused my deviated septum last year but we will never know for sure. Oh well, at least his head is tough :-)

Here are some random pictures from October--they both love hats and we bought them these "couches" that fold out to a "bed" with a zippered sleeping bag and they love them - though they have not slept in them. I hope to post some Halloween pictures next week.

Well I am having trouble posting pictures. I will keep trying.

Matthew Did It!!!!

Matthew slept through the night in his crib for the 2nd time in his life (16 months) last night. Now granted, I laid him down at 8:10 and he did not fall asleep until 8:50) and he work up at 5:30 and cuddled with me for a while, but he did it. This is the first week that we are working on transitioning him to his crib and I think he has done very well so far!!! Yeah Matthew!!!

15 Month Checkup

Hi everyone,

Matthew and Thomas had their 15 month check up today and both boys are very healthy. Thomas needs to go back to a physical therapist for this torticolis (his neck issue) but otherwise both are ahead of schedule on developments! Thomas grew more than Matthew since the last appointment and is now increasing the difference gap. I can't believe that Thomas is nearing 3 feet tall at 15 months!!! Thomas can now identify and say the words for at least 7 objects and Matthew can do at least 4.

Their stats were:

Matthew:
Weight 22 pounds 10 ounces (25th %)
Height 31 inches (50%)

Thomas:
Weight 27 pounds 8 ounces (85the %)
Height 33.5 inches (95th %)

Below are some pictures taken last night. Matthew is definitely our dare devil, has no fear and is always on the go. Thomas is our quieter boy and enjoys playing by himself, looking out the window and "reading" books. Both boys enjoy playing with each other and can often be found giving each other hugs and kisses.

Update on the Boys

The boys have been having a great time outside (sometimes getting themselves so tired in the morning that they fall asleep eating lunch as you can see below). Thomas has been greatly enjoying eating fresh corn-on-the-cob and raw carrots and stringbeans right out of the garden. They have enjoyed riding the ATVs and picking leaves. Thomas is more vocal then Matthew when it comes to saying words (he loves to repeat what you say) and Matthew loves to scream and say hello. Thomas is very good at pointing to an apple and saying apple (with the c sound rather than the p sound) and pointing at pictures of stars and saying "tar". Thomas has transitioned himself at daycare to taking his naps on a mat rather than in this playpen. One day he just went to the mat and laid down and fell asleep and now he won't go back into the playpen at daycare. Good for him. They have their 15 month checkup next week so we will post those stats. Enjoy the pics below.

Sleeping and Playing Babes

Hi everyone,

We had a fun weekend with the boys. The weather broke a bit so it was not quite as hot which gave us the opportunity to take them to the park. We had a "lobster" feast (not the boys though nor me) on Friday with Sue's sister and then a Pot-Luck party at one of Sue's Aunt's houses on Saturday in honor of one of her Aunt's being home for a bit. We had a great time running around and enjoying the day. Here are some recent pictures and you will see that Matthew has decided that homemade blueberry jam is pretty good:

July Visits

Hi everyone,

Life has been very busy for us. July saw visits with Sue's sisters and a family reunion and Reed's Mom was able to come up for a visit. The boys were sick during Reed's Mom's visit, but we still had a good time. The boys are getting really big and are getting more independent as the weeks pass. They will repeat a lot of words that we say and will understand many of the instructions that we give them (can you go get the truck and bring it to Daddy?). I am going to try and post some pictures from July below.

Update on Matthew's Appointment

Hi everyone,

Matthew had a follow up appointment today to have his ears checked since he still had fluid on the ears at his one year checkup. The fluid is all gone. But the rash that he has on his skin is eczema. So now we are trying to get that to clear up and then do what we can to avoid flare ups. The poor guy, I am hoping that this won't plague him his entire life, but it does run in my family.
