Big Boy Beds and Potties

Hi everyone,

So far the big boy beds are working out really well. One night, Thomas said he could not sleep, and they were doing snow removal outside on the main road - needless to say we found Thomas sitting very quietly watching the tractors outside the window. But, except for that second night, Matthew has slept in his own bed every night, I have to normally go in once or twice a night but he normally falls right back asleep.

Yesterday was the third day straight that Matthew was dry all day (except for one evening and after the nap) but he still wants to wear a diaper. We need to work on pooping in the potty and wearing big boy underwear, but he is doing great. Thomas still goes once or twice a day, but doesn't really care one way or the other. Hopefully by summer we will be completely trained and out of the diapers.

Here are some fun pictures from the other night of the boys running "through the snow trails" at the house.

Lots of Achievements this weekend

Hi everyone,

I know I have been neglectful on the blog, but we have been so busy. I need to take some more pictures and I took a video today, if I can figure out how to download it and upload it I will. But for now, Matthew started asking to use the potty Friday at daycare and continued all through the weekend with it (not every time he had to go but three to four times a day including a poopy which is a huge step). We also converted both of the toddler beds to full size beds and moved both boys into the same room hoping that Matthew would be interested enough to sleep in the new bed in the same room as Thomas (we have another toddler bed on stand by just in case) but so far he has gone to sleep really well in his new bed each night (that's three nights in a row) and the first night he slept through the night in his bed. Last night he woke up and called for either Mommy or Daddy and I made the mistake of bringing him back to bed with me. I think if I had laid down in his bed for a bit, he would have gone back to sleep. That is what I will do tonight if it happens again. And nap time this afternoon was excellent. Here is to keeping my fingers crossed that it will continue. I am posting a few pictures of their new room/beds below. Don't worry, the potty chairs in the picture are spare ones and are only being used as a step stool for them to get into bed. The real potty chairs are in the bathroom!! :-)

Big Boy Beds and Potty Chairs

So far this month we have had some big changes with the boys! Both Thomas and Matthew have moved to big boy beds (the crib has been converted into the day bed style with the half bar in the front). Thomas goes to bed well at night in his big boy bed but now gets up early in the morning (around 4) and goes in to sleep with Daddy. Matthew still won't go in his big boy bed for Mommy but will for Daddy and then he normally ends up sleeping with Mommy at some point through the night. We have ordered an "alarm" clock for Thomas' room which will start teaching him time and will glow green when it is ok to get out of bed. Hopefully this will help with him staying in bed a little longer. Thomas has started to use the potty a little (we only started this weekend) but he went three times in it and was so excited about it. Matthew wants nothing to do with the potty yet but is excited to watch his brother pee. We are hoping for a smooth and quick transition for both boys.

Surgery on the Near Horizon for Thomas

Hi everyone, Happy New Years and we hope that all of you had a good holiday. We had a good holiday and a good visit with Grandma Mimi (pictures below).

One thing we did over the holiday week was take Thomas to an ENT specialist as he has been having breathing issues for the past month during sleep. He has always snored really loud but over the past month or so, he has stopped breating in his sleep and it had become so regular that it was happening every few minutes. The determination--his tonsils have to come out. We don't know about the adnoids yet. The doctor is going to try to delay the surgery until closer to his 3rd birthday but will do it sooner if the breathing gets worse. My poor Thomas, I hate for him to have to go through this, but the after results should be much improved for him. He is tired all the time now as he does not get restful sleep. We will keep you posted on when the surgery will be.

Here are some pictures of our visit with Grandma Mimi:

Christmas 2010 Round 1

This past weekend was the Bernier Christmas celebration with Sharon, Abbie and Sara visiting. We had a fun packed, full weekend. Sara arrived Thursday night and Sharon and Abbie came in on Saturday. Here are some pictures of the gift opening where the boys had a ball being little Santas handing out gifts to everyone:

November 2010

Where does the time go? This year is almost over and we cannot seem to keep up!! The boys are doing good. We think Thomas might be Lactose intolerent so we are trying the Lactose free milk and if that does not help, he will be off to see the doctor. Both boys seem to always have some congestion during the winter months, so after another discussion with their doctor, we are going to try a nasal spray--God help us in trying to get them to take that!!! But if they take it, we will see if it helps any. One thing that seems to help is the Vics on the feet.

Overall the boys had a great November. Below are some pictures to show you their activities:

Playdough--notice that Thomas' colors are still all sepearated (and they remain that way today) while Matthew's are all mixed together (it only took him about 10 min to do that)

Here they are relaxing a bit watching some TV:

Here is some coloring/driving enjoyment:

Here are some specials of Thomas (he was more willing to pose for the camera this month). Notice his placement of his "cell phone"--just like his Daddy. Thomas has become quite the computer guru--holding Skype sessions with Grandma Mimi:
